Wearing a bat necklace feels like carrying a mystical charm with you, a tiny guardian hanging around your neck. Historically, bats have symbolized intuition, rebirth, and transformation. Since bats come out at dusk, they were seen as bridging darkness and light, symbolizing change and the cycles of life.

Bats are social and resourceful, thriving in their own unique way. So while others are wearing owls or dolphins, a bat necklace makes you stand out with a nod to all things a little unconventional but totally fascinating. It's like wearing a tiny reminder that even in darkness, you can always find your way - preferably in a stylish, winged fashion!

To help animals facing exploitation, suffering and/or extinction (and just because we love them!) we're donating money to animal charities with every piece of jewellery we sell. Click HERE to find out more.

And to help fight global warming, we also plant a tree with Ecologi every time you buy from us. Find out more about that HERE.

Bat Necklace

A super cute bat necklace, sustainably handmade from recycled precious metals. This intricate bat pendant has so many adorable, lifelike features. Check out the sweet face with its wide round eyes, the detailed wings about to open fully, and the tiny pointed feet. And if you're looking for truly unique bat jewelry, we can engrave a meaningful initial or number onto the back of the wings, to create the ultimate personalised bat necklace.

Our silver bat necklace comes in either "white" sterling silver or oxidised "black" sterling silver if you fancy your bat jewellery with a more gothic feel.

There are more than 1,400 species of bats in the world, making up around 20% of all mammal species. And in case you were wondering, we chose the Peters's dwarf epauletted fruit bat as our model for this necklace.

Bats are the only true flying mammals and can be found on almost every part of the planet, except in extreme deserts and polar regions. They come in a wide range of sizes, from the world's smallest mammal, the Kitti's hog-nosed bat, which weighs less than a penny, to the flying foxes, which can have a wingspan of up to 6 feet. And, whilst some do drink the blood of other mammals, the majority of bats are on a diet of fruit, nectar and insects.

Bats face several threats today, and their survival is crucial because they play a vital role in ecosystems by pollinating plants, including bananas, avocados and mangos and controlling insect populations. Deforestation, urbanization, and agriculture are destroying the natural habitats of bats, leaving them with fewer places to roost. Climate change (changes in temperature and weather patterns) disrupt the availability of food for bats and affect their migration and hibernation patterns. Check out the Bats Conservation Trust to find out how you can help secure the future of bats in our changing world.
