A vaquita necklace symbolizes the fragility and resilience of the natural world. The vaquita, the world's most endangered marine mammal, represents the urgent need for conservation and the delicate balance of our marine ecosystems. Wearing a vaquita necklace serves as a poignant reminder of our responsibility to protect endangered species and preserve their habitats. It embodies a call to action, encouraging awareness and advocacy for the vaquita's survival. This piece of jewelry is not just an accessory; it is a symbol of hope and commitment to safeguarding the wonders of the ocean for future generations.

To help animals facing exploitation, suffering and/or extinction (and just because we love them!) we're donating money to animal charities with every piece of jewellery we sell. Click HERE to find out more.

And to help fight global warming, we also plant a tree with Ecologi every time you buy from us. Find out more about that HERE.

Vaquita Porpoise Necklace

A handmade Vaquita pendant, intended as a conversation starter, a reminder, a "seed planter".

The vaquita is the world's most endangered marine animal, found only in Mexico’s northern Gulf of California. Marine biologists estimate that only around ten of the animals remain, with the main threat being caught as bycatch in fishing nets.

Industrial fishing is not just a major threat to the delicate marine ecosystemto but also contributes to climate disasters (significant amounts of carbon dioxide are released through trawling and a huge amount of fossil fuels being burnt for running these massive ships), plus certain fish and mammals disappearing from the food chain will destroy the ). Up to 2.3 trillion(!) fish are being caught every year and around 300,000 whales, sharks and dolphins are injured or killed in the process.

Our little vaquita pendant is made from 100% recycled gold or silver and comes in plastic free packaging.
